The detective department of “Q” of the Copenhagen police, Karl Merk and his assistant Assad, find three mummified corpses in an abandoned apartment. The bodies are seated at the dinner table, where there is another chair. Who were these mummies before and for whom the free space is intended? The threads of the investigation lead Carl to a women's clinic on an uninhabited island, where cruel experiments were conducted. The screen version of the novel by the famous Scandinavian writer Jussi Adler-Olsen.
