Maineland (2017)

Stella and Harry are rich and cosmopolitan adolescents who are part of the enormous wave of "parachute students" in mainland China who enroll in private schools in the US. Filmed for over three years in China and the US, MAINELAND tells a story in several layers, following this entertaining, entertaining and introspective girl as they set up in a boarding school in the rural town Tomorrow. They come to seek Western-style education, get rid of the admission exam of the dreaded Chinese college, and the promise of a Hollywood-style US high school experience. But as their fuzzy visions of the American dream bind to a greater degree of clarity, their relationship to the home has a surprising new look.
